Ukiah Natural Foods has reserved $15,000 from the 2011 store profits to as Community Grants awards to local non-profit organizations that help provide food and housing for community members in need as well as events, programs and services targeting health, wellness and nutrition. Ukiah Natural Foods is soliciting grant applications from non-profit organizations that serve needs in these two target areas. There is a simple application form available at the Ukiah Natural Food’s customer service counter or online at ukiahcoop.com. Completed application forms are due by Feb. 21 and grants will be awarded in March.

The Mendocino County Youth Project will host silent and live auction to raise funds to benefit homeless young adults and their children. This year’s event will feature artwork by students and other local artists from the county. The silent auction and sale will start at 5:30 on Friday, March 2nd and continue Saturday evening March 3rd at 6 pm. Besides art, among the items to be included will be a dinner for four at the County Jail prepared by Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman, a house concert by local pianist Spencer Brewer, and more. The benefit will be held at the Saturday Afternoon Club in Ukiah Friday and Saturday March 2nd and 3rd.

The Mendocino Art Center is now accepting applications for the Artists in Residence program, September 2012 through May 2013. The program, now in its 51st year, was developed for emerging and established studio artists to provide both time and space to develop work. Residencies are available in ceramics, fiber arts, fine art, jewelry/metalsmithing and sculpture/blacksmithing.  MENDOCINO COUNTY,   - Cost: $ 

 

The State of California is offering a 50% off traffic amnesty program for drivers with outstanding traffic tickets that were due to be paid in full before January 1, 2009. To be part of this program all of the following also must apply: You either failed to appear in court or failed to pay in full. The last date you made a payment was on or before January 1, 2009. You don’t owe restitution to a victim on any case in the county where the traffic case was filed. You have no outstanding misdemeanor or felony warrants in the county where the traffic case was filed. . Only traffic tickets that were due to be paid before January 1, 2009, are eligible. Parking tickets, driving under the influence (DUI), and reckless driving cases are NOT eligible. Contact your local superior court before June 30th when this 50% program ends.
