California Coastal Cleanup Day

September 25th will be the 26th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day, the day volunteer across the state join to clean trash and debris from over 1,100 miles of the California coast and another 1,000 miles along the inland shorelines of bays, creeks, rivers and lakes throughout the state. The Mendocino Land Trust invites you to help protect our environment by volunteering to clean Mendocino County’s beaches and waterways. Cleanup locations in Mendocino County include over 25 coastal locations stretching from Westport to Gualala and several inland creek areas. You are encouraged to sign up for a cleanup location prior to Coastal Cleanup Day. For a full list of Coastal Cleanup Day locations, visit mendocinolandtrust.org. CasparFest 2010

CasparFest is returning to the Caspar Community Center on September 25th and 26th. The two day event, celebrating local community, will feature a large outdoor stage with continuous live music and dance, gardening and composting workshops, kid's activities, culinary workshops, films, a variety of festival food & drink and a marketplace with artists, craftspeople, vendors of ethnic & fair trade imports, crafts made from recycled materials and other interesting objects. If you would like to be a vendor for the marketplace and an application can be obtained by emailing jima@mcn.org calling 964-4997, or downloading one at: casparfest.org

Willits Seniors Transportation Department is offering one free round trip ride to new riders week days September 1 through September 10, 8:30 to 12 and 1 to 3:30. They’ll deliver (seniors 55 years and older and/or disabled) door to door in Willits and Brooktrails. Shopping, doctor visits, hair appointment, visit a friend, or come to the Senior Center for lunch and some good company. Just call Willits Senior Center Transportation at 459-5556 to schedule your ride.
